Emily Ball

My research focuses on the impacts of Arctic amplification on human exposure to temperature, as part of the ArctiCONNECT project. I am interested in the impacts of extreme temperatures, and I link large ensemble climate model data to a statistical mortality model to understand how temperature changes from future sea ice loss will lead to changes in mortality over Canada. I am also interested in the emergence of climate and weather-related health risks in the UK.

Before starting this research in June 2023, I was a PhD student in the group. My thesis focused on using idealised climate models to understand planetary atmospheric dynamics, particularly focusing on the polar vortices of Mars.
