Abi Jones

I am a current PhD student in the School of Geographical Sciences. My research focuses on future changes in intense storms across Africa in new km-scale climate scenarios. I will be working with the Met Office’s Convection-Permitting 4 Africa (CP4A) model to determine how the characteristics of intense storms are likely to change in the future, and what this might mean for extreme rainfall events.

Having pursued degrees in Geography (BA) and Climate and Society (MA), as well as working at both research institutes and humanitarian organisations, my interests lie more broadly at the intersection between climate science, climate services, and humanitarian action, specifically in relation to extreme events.

PhD title: Researching future changes in convective storms across Africa in new km-scale climate scenarios.
